For the past 5 years, I have sent out a summer fundraising request for the extremely worthy cause of Camp Simcha/ Chai Lifeline.
Usually, by this point in the season, I am in my final few weeks of training- having spent many hours in the saddle preparing for the 150+ mile, 7500 ft of vertical climb, 2 days of grueling peddling, to get to the ultimate destination and the "world's greatest finish line" of Camp Simcha.
Seeing the smiles on these children's faces, and the glee in their voices is enough to refill any rider’s heart, soul and body with the necessary energy to recover from this draining ride.
Unfortunately, I will not be riding this year due to being mid-recovery from hamstring surgery earlier in the year, and I can't imagine doing 150 miles sitting on a bike right now (ouch! ;-)
With that being said, the show must roll on!
Camp Simcha is as necessary as ever. And your partnership to keep their righteous mission afloat is as necessary as ever as well.
Please join me in supporting this essential service, which please God, may we never need to call on.
This year, our fundraising efforts will be in the merit of a speedy recovery for:
Chaim Moshe ben Leah
Yisrael Noach ben Leah
May they both have speedy and full recoveries!
A little about bike4chai and Chai Lifeline:
Chai Lifeline’s flagship programs, Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special, offer 430 children a chance to forget about illness and just be kids again. Camp is an oasis of fun, of joy, and of peace for children experiencing dark and turbulent times. To learn more about Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha special, visit campsimcha.org.
This year’s ride will take place on Wednesday/ Thursday, August 9-10 2023. My objective is to raise $5,000 (hopefully more :-) by then, and I hope you will help me reach this goal. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
