Chai Lifeline has always been on my radar. Whose heartstrings aren’t tugged by pictures of children lit up with joy despite the difficulty of their lives?
But when I landed a job in Camp Simcha all those years ago (hard to believe it's been more than 26 years!) it provided me with a close-up perspective and those images became all too real.
Life for a child with cancer or another life-threatening/life-altering condition is fraught with pain, fear, and unimaginable challenges. For two weeks of every summer, these children are granted the chance to forget about their illnesses and experience life simply as children, rather than patients. A summer in Camp Simcha is an extraordinary opportunity for hundreds of children to restore their fighting spirit and renew their determination to defeat illness and suffering.
In memory of my mother in law, Estelle Glass A"H, I will bike 150 miles to Camp Simcha this summer. The ride will not be easy, but the sheer delight on the faces of the campers and staff alike at the finish line will carry me through every moment.
I will participate in Bike4Chai on August 9-10, 2023 for the 5th year in a row! You don’t have to ride along to support this most worthy cause; my goal is to raise $10,000 by then, and I’m counting on you to help me reach it! All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
Thank you for supporting me and, more importantly, for supporting the children of Camp Simcha!
Fondly,
Aaron Kopstick
